What positive initiatives has SOC undertaken?
There have been many positive initiatives over the years, among them: campaigning for wilderness designation , leading the effort to prevent the FAA from routing commercial aircraft over the Wasatch Mountains and Canyons, actively engaged in preventing Salt Lake County from claiming road right of ways in the Wasatch Mountains (RS 2477), participating in many Olympics planning committees over the past 30 years, working with Salt Lake County to improve and enforce zoning ordinances, engaging in the procedural process and litigation against Salt Lake County when it egregiously fails to adhere to its own zoning ordinances (See Harper’s Quarry and Big Cottonwood Canyon Road lawsuits), being a main player and active participant in the Wasatch Powderbird Guide Heli-skiing environmental impact statement process and renewal of its permit, providing volunteers and organization for trail maintenance and training college interns, sponsoring an “Adopt a Highway” cleanup of a Big Cottonwood Canyon r
