What Portland band is in the 2009 Bonnaroo festival lineup for 7PM Saturday?”
MANCHESTER, TN – With fans cheering on and die-hards singing along, Portland rocksters Hockey made their Bonnaroo Arts and Music Festival debut tonight at the “This Stage” . The band, made up of Benjamin Grubin, Brian White, Jeremy Reynolds, Anthony Stassi and Ryan Dolliver played an hour-long set (that just ended) including “Put the Game Down,” “Work, Work, Work” and “Song Away. Mixing elements of British new wave and 70s funk, Hockey played a blend of danceable tunes that will, in time, make them the next ‘it” band. (Think MGMT.) Lead singer Grubin was especially fun to watch, running around the stage, getting into his own band’s music and playing those drums. During tonight show, Grubin periodically grabbed a pair of drumsticks and played along-side drummer Stassi. “You guys are freakin’ very, very nice,” Grubin told the crowd at one point. The band’s debut album is due out on August 25.
