Since the idea was to have cities as the centralization of America, and the face of America, they had to have something to draw in popularity. Landscaping and beautification will draw in any normal person. This was the easiest way for the government bodies to draw in more people. Lavish streets and parks were developed, and trees and shrubs played the major factor in these developments. People loved being in the shade, being able to take walks and breath fresh clean air, and also have that sense of solitude from modern day society. This didn’t end in the 1800’s, it still happens today.
