What plants tolerate spider mites?
Q. I am looking for shrubs that resist spider mites. Also, after taking up all the shrubs that were killed by these spider mites, can I plant shrubs back in the same spots without the new plants being killed by these mites? The mites appear in summer during hot, hot dry weather. Alberta spruce is known as a spider mite hotel, but the pests get on anything. They also like azaleas. There is no soil treatment for them because they are not a soil-borne pests. The best control is showering your plants with blasts of cold water to deter them.
