What plants are found in an African rainforest canopy?

0

Rainforests are known as being one of the most biological diverse areas in the world. It’s impossible to have an exhaustive list, let alone type one in here. There are some obvious characteristics that can be listed. Only shade tolerant species will survive in most locations. Occasionally an opening in the forest canopy will open, but it will close quickly, not much time for shade intolerant plants to reproduce. The shade intolerant plants are likely to grow very slowly in the forest but very quickly in open areas, such as after logging. There will likely be young trees of the same species that are currently growing there, ready to take over when their elders die and fall. That, however, will only necessarily occur in old growth rainforests. In younger forests or disturbed forests, they may be undergoing succession, and thus, different plants/trees may be growing, ready to overthrow their elders.
