What plans were made in 2009 by Shell and Motiva in preparation for 2010?
Virtually every hurricane season brings new learnings, some more so than others. After Katrina and Rita in 2005, we implemented an expanded generator strategy in the Gulf Coast and other hurricane-prone states in the second quarter of 2006. Motiva has since secured back-up generators, which can be deployed strategically to impacted areas for emergency response. Stations near evacuation routes or those within dense population areas have been identified so these stations are the priority for supply before and after a storm.
