What plans are in development for Millennium Park?
There is not a defined schedule for future park construction. Much of the implementation of the Park Master Plan will be determined as additional funding becomes available. Millennium Park is a long-term commitment designed to protect the quality of life in all of Kent County. Future Plans Include: • Developing over 500 acres for canoeing and fishing. • Developing 8.4 miles of walking and hiking trails. • Developing 10 miles of all-purpose trails for walking, biking, rollerblading, etc. • Expanding areas for blinds and overlooks • Veterans memorial picnic grove • Large group picnic area • Kid’s town • Kent Trails trail head and parking area • Developing a boating center with canoe, kayak, and pedal boat rental. The park is expected to be complete in 2014. At that time, its approximately 1,500 acres will connect the four cities of Grand Rapids, Walker, and Wyoming and Grandville.
