What Planet Has Days Longer Than Years?
The planet Venus has days which are longer than its years. It takes 225 days for Venus to circle around the sun and 243 days to rotate on its own axis. The orbit of Venus around the sun is almost spherical at a distance of 67 million miles. Venus, the second planet from the sun and the closest planet to the Earth is also the brightest object in the night sky. Venus, visible only during the sunrise or sunset is also known as the morning star and the evening star. The unique thing about this planet compared to others is that it moves from west to east. Compared to the clouds which cover 50 percent of the Earth, the Venus clouds cover the entire planet. Venus has similar mean densities to that of Earth because both are made similar rocks. However the atmosphere is mainly made of carbon dioxide rather than nitrogen and oxygen. The very similar mass of Venus and the Earth imply that Venus is made of rocks similar to those that make up the Earth.
