What piano grade is Fur Elise by Beethoven?
Fur Elise is Grade 7 in The Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus. RCM is the only world recognized music curriculum. This piece is not easy. I have just finished examining 3 weeks of piano exams and many students performed this piece for their Grade 7 standing. The average grade for this work was 70%…. The challenge in making this piece work is the tempo. Many students don’t realize that the section with 32nd notes has to be the same tempo as the first phrase and thus slow it down when they reach that section. Besides tempo, one has to have long phrase lengths that end gently and without accents, articulation of 16th notes, understanding of the harmonic motion, rhythmic stability and use of dynamics. Funny how many think this piece is easy and when I evaluate them they are shocked to find that their performance was ranked so low. The popularity of these piece is its downfall as there are few good performances of this piece. Edit – No i don’t need to reaffirm my statement because ABRS
