What physiology is taken into account?
A. We model transport of compound and water along the stomach, duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, and colon, keeping track of the dissolved and undissolved amounts in each segment of the gastrointestinal track. A unique feature of the absorption modelling is that we take into account the changes in fluid volume that occur in the gastrointestinal tract lumen after dosing. We model the uptake into the mucosa of the GI tract as a linear combination of passive permeability and active transport.
