What phase is the IMS market in right now?
Nicolas Mercouroff: Our view is that now we are entering the phase of deployment of IMS. That might be surprising because some operators went into this phase in quiet mode. But now we have some real traffic carried by IMS infrastructure. This is especially true in the fixed world where operators are looking to generate new revenues with IMS to enhance communications with VoIP, multimedia over IP and Presence. Fixed operators are looking to do renovation of their PSTN. There is a slight delay on the mobile side, but IMS is starting to be used for data services like PTT and Presence. IMSV: Can you describe some operator case studies? NM: A fixed-line operator looking to IMS to provide multimedia to fixed subscribers is BT, over the last two years through BT Communicator and then Broadband Talk.
