What personal skills or qualities are needed to become a Telemarketer?
A Telemarketer is one who is engaged in promoting, soliciting interest in, and selling products, services, or other items; generally by way of telephone contact of prospective buyers or customers. Telemarketers generally work for telemarketing organizations and businesses that provide such promotional and sales services for a variety of manufacturers or providers of particular services and products. In order to become a successful Telemarketer, one should be completely familiar with the product, service or other items being marketed. And, they should be able to present themselves not as a “pest”, but as a friend trying to offer something useful; even necessary. Generally speaking, most Telemarketers are not required to have specific college training, but it would not hurt for Telemarketers to study in areas of sales and marketing, communications, computer operation, and other similar subjects.
