What personal skills or qualities are needed to become a Supervisor?
A Supervisor is one who is engaged in planning, overseeing, managing, and otherwise effecting control upon other people who are in subordinate work positions in an organization, company, or other institution utilizing hierarchical management methods. Since the term Supervisor is essentially a generic term which encompasses a wide variety of industries and disciplines, it is impossible to describe all duties and requirements for Supervisor positions. However, in a general sense, all Supervisors perform somewhat similar duties, in that they are all expected to make the best business or institutional use of those who have been placed in their charge. This means that Supervisors need to be well organized, detail-oriented, forward-thinking and proactive. Supervisors should also be congenial and approachable, since much of their work is in direct contact and communication with subordinate employees.
