What personal skills or qualities are needed to become a Detective?
A Detective is one who is engaged in investigative work; typically within the Law Enforcement community, though some large companies hire their own full-time Detectives to help maintain security and safety of property and personnel. Detectives generally work within Police Departments of local or State municipalities. Detectives often work “undercover” (plain clothes, disguises) on particular law enforcement projects and endeavors. Detectives are often the front-runners involved with covert and secretive gathering of information and evidence needed to prosecute unlawful and criminal activity. Detectives usually carry firearms; consequently they must have clean background records and stable personal profiles. Detectives must also write frequent reports and reviews of their findings, or of crime scenes, or accidents, or similar infractions, violations and events; thus they need to have solid language and communications skills. Academic studies for Detectives usually consists of standard l
