What personal factors could affect communication with service users?
good communication skills are essential in this particular type of job, sometimes it feels like you almost have to be a mind reader because some people due to their mental state or whatever else are unable to communicate what they really mean. it is important to look at ‘body language’ is that person telling you that they are ok but their face looks sad and their head is hung down. you need really good listening skills to pick up on the parts of the conversation that really mean something for example that person may be telling you that they had a phone call from their mum, dad or whoever, but the person is showing agitation when telling you this.
