WorkPace is distributed as a simple gzip’d tarball. This can be installed without superuser privelages simply by extracting the tarball to the desired location. If you wish to install WorkPace in a system directory, e.g. “/usr/local”, then you will obviously need appropriate permissions. On some platforms (notably those using XFree86) a system administrator may be required to modify the X server configuration files and restart the X server to enable the X “record” extension for WorkPace to function properly, as detailed in the WorkPace documentation.
