What percentage will go to help support core services in 2009?
In 2009, about 20 percent of the garbage rate a customer pays each month will go to support police, fire and other core general city services. Please note that the utility tax applies to garbage collection services within the city, but not to recycling or yard debris services. The utility tax is already included within the adopted rates and does not appear as a separate line item on customer bills.
