What Percentage of Physician Practices in Massachusetts Use Electronic Health Records?

0

The percentage of Massachusetts physician practices with an electronic health record system increased from 23% in 2005 to 35% in 2007, according to a survey recently published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association. The survey also found that the availability of electronic prescribing at practices with EHRs increased from 44.7% in 2005 to 70.8% in 2007. In 2007, 42.6% of physicians with an e-prescribing function available said they used it most or all of the time, up from 19.9% in 2005. However, there was little change between 2005 and 2007 in the availability of nine other EHR features among practices with EHRs, according to the survey. Results are based on a follow-up mail survey of 1,144 physicians in Massachusetts who completed a 2005 survey on EHR adoption.
