What percentage of diesel engines end up getting rebuilt eventually?
a friend of mine does this for a living all he does is diesel engines and all of them eventually get re-built,on the average he does about 3-4 engines week, and the ones he doesn’t do get sent off to a bigger shop that completely goes through them and re builds them, very few get scrapped these days, unless the bore is worn out so bad that the cant be built all of them get re-done,and this goes for the long haul trucks also, most of those will last for at least 500 k before being re-done,and on some of those they re-sleeve them and re-build those blocks, unless one is cracked it usually gets rebuilt, good luck
