What penalties will there be on any Governments who do not ensure compliance with the ISPS Code?
IMO will not impose any penalties – it is not within its remit to do so. It is to be anticipated that market forces and economic factors will drive compliance. But the consequences of either initially failing to comply or of failing to maintain continuous compliance with IMO’s special measures to enhance maritime security, could be serious and far reaching.
