What penalties are there for copyright infringement?
[This answer is under review.] If found guilty of copyright infringement, you can be slapped with both criminal and civil penalties. Criminal punishment does vary depending upon the severity of the offense, but you can be sent to jail for up to ten years per count and fined up to $2,500.
