WHAT PAY INCENTIVES ARE AVAILABLE TO A DEPUTY SHERIFF?
Some of the following pay incentives are negotiated items between the county and the union. These incentives can change with contract changes. • 7.5% if assigned to swing or graveyard shifts • 2.5% wellness • $1,065 – $1,215 yearly uniform allowance, paid bi-weekly • 5% of base hourly rate for each POST certificate (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced) • 5% bilingual pay, added to the base hourly rate, depending on assignment and qualifying exam • Call back pay – receive a minimum of 2 hours pay at 1.5 times, receive up to 1 hour pay at 1.5 times when authorized work is performed but not required to physically return to work, depending on assignment • Canine pay – if assigned to the canine unit, receive $225 per month for a county owned canine or $275 per month for an employee owned canine • Certified diver – if assigned to the dive team receive $125 per month • Education incentive – based on eligibility, with copy of transcript and/ or degree you can receive either $1,300 annually for an AA
