Both communities were integrated by the needs of the event. The staging of a World Rally Championship event demands a large body of people to volunteer and dedicate their time. Creeds were left outside the door and a well of enthusiasm bursted amongst the communities to create a stunning international event. How significant was it for Rally Ireland to win the Peace and Sport award for ‘Event of the Year’? It was hugely significant not just for the organizers of Rally Ireland but for the communities.
