Three (3) copies of the summons/subpoena and two (2) copies of the supporting documentation (i.e. complaint, petition) per party to be served are needed to perfect the service in Monroe County. If the service paperwork needs to be returned by mail, a self-addressed stamped envelope must be included. If the Court requires an Affidavit of Service, that should be noted in the correspondence regarding the service request. Additionally, if that state requires the completion of the state’s Affidavit of Service, a copy of the Affidavit should be sent with the request for service. Legally, the summoned or served person should have at least ten (10) days notice prior to any hearing at which his/her attendance is required.
