What other reasons are there for gays to get married, besides the ones listed below???
You need to separate the fact that a marriage (in the sense we are talking about here) can be divided (broadly) into two forms: that of a legal/civil contract, and one that is a religious union. Until you have clearly delineated that point, then your arguments also tend to be muddled as well. You say that we want new laws, yet your basis for saying why those laws should not be changed is because your God tells you homosexuality is a sin. Most gay people will agree with me on this statement: We are approaching gay marriage from the stand point of human rights, legal rights and equal rights. We are NOT forcing any religion to bless our marriages, or to accept our unions into the congregation with open arms. Freedom of religion also means I can choose NOT to believe what your faith prescribes – it follows that if you have your own set of beliefs, and consider us “sinners”, you will have tremendous difficulty sitting beside me (or any other gay person) in your place of worship.
