What other nutrition services does the federal government provide to seniors?
Funded by both federal and state governments, senior centers provide important nutrition education, screening and counseling, in addition to congregate meals. These services help older adults identify their needs as they relate to maintaining health and managing such nutrition-related diseases as heart disease, diabetes and hypertension. Food stamps are also available for those who qualify.
