What other medications should I avoid when taking guaifenesin?
All of them. Try to avoid medications. They alter brain function. Dr. St. Amand prefers to treat nearest the cause of a problem rather than at the symptom level. In the tricyclic antidepressant category, Xanax is worse than Elavil, but they are all bad. Dr. St. Amand avoids prescribing them if a new patient is not already taking them. Panic attacks are controlled with the diet for hypoglycemia. When a patient is already on the meds, he treats with guaifenesin, and when the patient is having multiple good days, he tries weaning them off the other drugs.
