What other instruments did Bob Nolan play besides the acoustic bass and guitar and how proficient was he instrumentally?
According to his brother, Earl Nolan, Bob’s first instrument was the ukulele which is still in the possession of his grandson, Calin Coburn. He was an indifferent guitar player but he learned the chords well enough to accompany himself in the privacy of his own home and to make demos of his songs. He learned the chord progressions and loved to chord up and down the chromatic scale. This sound often made its way into his compositions. He became a good bass player.
