WB: Well, when we had the idea of this game, World of Goo did not exist yet. Tower of Goo did exist but it was not nearly as polished as the final version of World of Goo. The Wario Ware mini-game was our main inspiration. We consider 99 Bricks to be more of a tribute to Tetris — it wasn’t necessarily inspired by it. Why did you decide to add physics to the game and make the block towers wobble? WB: We had the use of physics in mind from the start. If the blocks were stable you could keep on building forever. This presents no challenge and would be very boring. Box2DFlashAS3 was used for the physics in the game and the wobbling of the tower became an emergent feature. The blocks are not entirely solid, in fact they‘re slightly elastic. So, you are basically making a tower out of rubber, and it will eventually start swaying as it grows taller.
