What OS and computer language did most famous hackers use?
Hackers don’t use only one OS or programing language. Depending on what are they hacking exactly, they’ll use whatever is at hand. Knowledge of using several operating systems and programing languages are “a must” for some advanced hacking. Some things are more easily done in Windows some more easily in Linux. Linux or other Unix-like operating systems (BSD…) are usualy hacker’s choice OSs. What makes Linux the hacker’s choice is that (almost) everything is OpenSource and freely available, after all Linux was made by hackers :). On the other hand, all those OpenSource tool are ported for other operating systems so hackers are not limited to one operating system. Whatever OS does the job, they’ll use it. Same with programing languages. Some things can be more easily done in some higher level or script languages like Perl, Python, Bash script, some require low level programing with C\C++ and Assembler.
