What organizations set reliability standards?
Examples of bodies that set reliability standards include JEDEC Solid State Technology Association and Telcordia Technologies. The JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, once known as the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council, is a body of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EAI) that sets standards for semiconductor devices and IC packages. JEDEC is an organization made up of over 300 member companies working together on specifications, simulation, prototyping, example design, test parameters, and system validations. These standards become the minimum requirements. Telcordia Technologies (formerly known as Bellcore) is responsible for setting reliability standards (general requirements) for telecommunications equipment such as outdoor network interface devices, network switching systems, fiber optics, and optoelectronic devices.
