What order is best to connect cables and power or does it really matter?
A. Yes, it is important to connect up most sensitive electronic devices in a safe way. The important common sense rules are: A) Always first connect up all cables (composite video, S-Video or GSTAR COM) before powering up the camera. B) NEVER switch on or off the camera plug pack when connected to the camera by flicking on or off the mains power switch. This can cause huge voltage spikes along the DC input which can take out sensitive CMOS components in the cameras circuitry. Furthermore voltage spike may be induced into the video or com cables just like a lightening strike can take out a PC connected to the phone lines or without surge arrestor on the mains power. First power up your regulated DC plug pack then insert it into the 12VDC receptacle at the back of the camera. When finishing for the night, remove the DC plug pack connector first from the camera before disconnecting cables.
