What options are available for participating in the choral program?
Students wishing to participate in chorus as Freshmen will be assigned to Womens Chorus or Mens Chorus (known jointly as Concert Choir). These two groups perform both separately and together in concert but practice separately to provide more intensive and focused instruction. Beginning their Sophomore year, students may remain in Womens Chorus or Mens Chorus (Concert Choir) or audition to participate in Advanced Mixed Chorus (South Lakes Singers or Advanced Women’s Ensemble). Freshmen are eligible to audition for all extracurricular choral programs. Show Choir, combining music and choreography, is offered as an 8th period class for credit. It meets once a week from 2:15-4:00. It is preferred that Show Choir members be part of another choral ensemble. However, exceptions can be made for students who wish to be a part of the choral program but have scheduling conflicts. Men’s A Cappella choir is open to any male student who enjoys singing rock and pop music in the a cappella style. This
