What opportunities are there for training in context?
As an ordinand, you would be attached to a local parish, where you would be expected to be actively involved during term-time, participating weekly in various ministries (depending on the parish) and eventually helping to lead services and preach, over the course of your time here. You would undertake at least one Social Context Placement (e.g. typically involving work in a local hospital, prison, night shelter, etc.); the SCP may take place either during or outside of term-time. Three-year students may do two SCPs. You would do a four-week intensive parish placement sometime in the long vacation between the Easter term and the Michaelmas term beginning your second year. You would have the opportunity to participate with a team of students in a parish mission, led by one of our staff. You would join the rest of the first year students and staff members in a prayer weekend away at a retreat centre. In short, there would be opportunities not only to observe, but also to participate fully
