What opportunities are there for Academy students to exhibit and share their work?
Each strand offers students a wealth of opportunities to display or perform both on and off campus. Recent events include Carnegie Hall performances by the McCallum Band, Choir, and Orchestra. Students in the visual arts strand have a juried week exhibition each Spring, and individuals’ pieces have advanced to state and national exhibitions. Classical guitarist have won the high school division of a national competition four times now, and in 2008 were selected to be the honor ensemble performing at an international guitar competition in California. Because of the unique quality of our dance program, our students were invited to participate in a UT choreography project and be guest performers at a college dance festival in 2007. The Cavani Quartet used our string quartet for a masterclass at a state convention of strings teachers. Theater students performed at the Festival Fringe in Scotland in 2007.
