What non german beer has caused some turmoil in German brewing circles?
Deschutes Brewery accepts three awards at European Beer Star competition Most American beer drinkers thought they’d never see the day when American brewers would win beer competitions in Germany. The European Beer Star has recently completed its 5th annual judging. 28 awards were given to American breweries. What I find most intriguing are the awards given to Americans in German beer style categories. * Alaskan Brewing Co won bronze with their Alaskan Amber in the Düsseldorf-Style Altbier (German brown ale) category * Boston Beer Co won silver with their Boston Ale in the Düsseldorf-Style Altbier category * Firestone Walker Brewery won bronze with their Oktoberfest in the Bavarian-Style Maerzen category * Rogue Ales Brewery won silver with their Smoked Ale in the Smoked Beer category There were a couple of achievements in the Belgian ale categories too: * Brewery Ommegang won bronze with their Ommegang Abbey Ale in the Belgian-Style Dubbel category, behind world class Belgian brewers B
