What Next For Miss Cleo?
Charges against the woman pitched to millions as psychic Miss Cleo were dropped as part of the state’s $44 million settlement with her promoter. Youree Dell Harris, better known as the telemarketing Miss Cleo, was charged with deceptive trade practices in a civil suit filed by the Florida attorney general’s office. She was dismissed as a defendant after the settlement was filed in court. Her attorney, William Cone said Harris was rejoicing and maintains “an active practice as a shaman.” Under the settlement, Access Resource Services Inc., which trademarked the Miss Cleo name, agreed to pay refunds, halt all pay-per-call services and take no new customers for prepaid services in Florida. Harris was not required to pay anything in the settlement, but her messages are no longer allowed on the air.
