If prostate cancer is diagnosed at an advanced stage or if the cancer returns after localized therapy such as surgery or radiation, additional treatment with hormonal therapy is typically initiated. Recently, the U.S. FDA approved a new chemotherapy regimen. It represents an important treatment option for patients with prostate cancer who have undergone hormonal therapy (also known as androgen-deprivation therapy or ADT) but whose cancer is progressing despite the use of ADT.
