What new technology is going to replace, or make more efficient, our current uses of cement?
There are a variety of companies working to produce “green” cement. The one I’m most familar with is Calera. They are trying to use Carbonates as a binder to hold Carbon emissions in new building. There are others using organic polymers for specific applications. Finally, some using dopants such as TiO2 as a photocatalyst to remove large hydrocarbons and prevent staining. Aside from different formulations there is also BuildFast which sprays concrete over a polystyrene/wire frame to make housing. This improves the use of concrete substantially.
