What new technologies are being used in order to enhance rice production?
A.R.J: I must admit that for production we are lacking behind. The Government should support the growers to use the latest farm technologies, latest food fertilizers and food seed. Pakistan’s seed is 36 years old; it is now degenerated. Lots of research and development has to be done. Government institutes are very slow and growers are facing problem. If proper farm technology and education to growers is given through seminars and other means, then they can do wonders because they are deadly hardworking and dedicated. Our production level is low. Actually REAP is an organization of exporters but we were not involved in the main stream sometimes back but Mr. Soomro, when he was the Governor of Sindh, appreciated us a lot. We organized two seminars; one in Karachi and other one in Larkana. But we have our own limits and we have asked ministry of Agriculture for support but still nothing has been done.
