A lot of recycled lecture notes here, but I suppose I was asking for it; there were competent lecture-based answers and then there were the proper ones that showed evidence of having read actual poems; the former did ok, the latter really well. • Do the Greek novels work as novels? Few takers for this; it seemed that fans of the novels found the question a bit too chewy. I hadn’t really intended anything very sophisticated by it – just consideration of whether you could read & enjoy a Greek novel the way you would at least some kinds of modern one – but there were rather ambitious attempts to go much further and try to say what a “novel” ought to be and whether the label is an appropriate one.
