Positive effects: Plastic constitutes a noble use of oil, a transformation of the raw material into products which have become indispensable for our daily lives. Plastics are durable materials that contribute significantly to energy saving, the manufacture of plastic articles involving less energy than that necessary for the same production from traditional materials (consumption reduced overall by fifty per cent). Plastics are going to play an increasingly important role in responses to the oil supply crisis which is looming in the next decade or two.
