What Natural Resources Were Described in Some American Indian Legends?
Students identify references made to some natural resources in two American Indian legends. They draw inferences from the legends about the type of environment in which the people lived. They describe how the symbol they represent in their cooperative groups was depicted in the story, Ceremony In the Circle of Life, by White Deer of Autumn. On their journal covers, students design their symbols. Cooperative groups select and illustrate a name for their group. Subconcept 2: The homes of wild animals and human beings are made from natural resources. Lesson 7. How Does the Environment Influence the Types of Homes in Which Wild Animals Live? Students locate and observe animals’ homes on the school grounds and share these observations.
