What Natural Or Man-made Disasters Has Habitat for Humanity responded To?
Habitat has an ongoing program to help victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Habitat for Humanity India has built more than 11000 houses in the tsunami hit areas. Habitat has responded to the 2008 floods in Bihar and in 2005, Habitat responded to the flood situation in Maharashtra, at Mahad and Kalyan. In addition to this, Habitat worked to rebuild homes and lives post the 2001 earthquake in the State of Gujarat and the super cyclone of 1999, in the State of Orissa.
