What must I enable or disable on my notebook, handheld, or palm-size device to work with the EthIR LAN system?
On a Windows 95/98/2000/XP laptop computer, IR uses dial-up network connection. We provide a software, —ClarinetIR” that automatically configure and connection your laptop to the EthIR LAN. Windows CE devices communicate with the EthIR LAN system with minimal setup. Click Start / Programs / Communications and Make a New Connection. Select “Direct Connection” and click Next. From the drop down menu choose “Infrared Port”. If you intend to use “Active Sync” you will need an additional configuration step in the TCP/IP Settings. Under “Name Servers” in the WINS setting enter in the IP address of the partner notebook you intend to Sync with. If you do not intend to use ActiveSync then skip the preceding step and click Finish.
