What must Christians do in order to receive salvation?

As can be seen from the other answers to this question, it depends on whom you ask. Some denominations say that all you have to do is believe in Jesus as the Son of God and the Savior of the world and ask Him to forgive you. Others say that all you have to do is live a good life. Then there are the different shades in between these two extremes. My own religion teaches that you need both good works and faith in God and Christ to be saved. This does not mean that we earn the right to salvation. We come into this world in debt to God for our very existence. When we do that which He asks of us, He rewards us for our obedience. Therefore, we always remain in God’s debt. Ultimately, it is the grace of Christ that enables us to overcome our deficiencies and return to God. However, God also expects us to put in some effort on our part. For those that may want to criticize this answer because I don’t agree with your beliefs. There is nothing inaccurate about this answer. I state that there is

In response to Berend: Salvation is a free gift from God to all who believe. This is simple scripture, breathed by the very mouth of Jesus himself: John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son, that whoever would believe should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son to condemn the world but in order to save the world through him. There is only one sin that will disqualify a saved one from salvation: by consciously rejecting and denying Christ’s sacrifice, you become like one of the unsaved again. Having said that, this sin can occur by committing other sins that take you so far away from God that you finally fall into the world again and reject Him. Our salvation is not dependant upon works, or righteousness. Indeed, we have Christ’s righteousness – Romans states this. The judgement of the saved ones (Christians) is different to the judgement of the unsaved. There is no “are you saved?” at the Christian judgement day. 1 Corinthians 3:

Depends on whom you ask! The most important thing is to do your own study. Dont fall for the tricks that some self proclaimed Christians with man-made doctrines are eager to give you. If you ask an “exclusive salvationist” youll get some horrifying answers. Exclusive salvation is a trick! Any follower of Christ or believer in Christ’s message of love will receive salvation as far as Christianity is concerned. There are billions of people in this world who are NOT Christian and if we are to believe God is Good and Just, they too will receive salvation. God does not purposefully destroy His own creation for any reason especially not His most beloved creation. Be careful of what “fundamentalists” tell you what a Christian must do in order to receive salvation. Leave the “exclusive salvationists” in the basement where they belong.

Christians don’t need to do anything to receive salvation, they already have it if they are true Christians and have believed upon the name of Jesus Christ.. However, unbelievers need to do the following. Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” In a nutshell, those verses are what one must do to be saved. There is no sinners prayer to be found in Scripture, and there is no alter call to be found found in Scripture. Christians give the Gospel message and the unbelievers either believe it or they don’t. It’s a simple matter of believing. There is no magical prayer to be said and no magical routine to go through to be saved. Salvation is not complicated but man has the innate ability to make it that way. In order for this gospel to be effective it must b
