What must be done immediately after a dry ice shipment is received?
Upon receiving a shipment in dry ice, the Ablecube should be checked. If the Ablecube is melted upon arrival of shipment, it indicates that the contents of the shipping container reached temperatures greater than -40°C. Place the entire shipment in a -40°C freezer and contact your local Ablestik Customer Service or Sales Representative. If the Ablecube is intact, remove the boxes of syringes from the dry ice and place in a –40ºC freezer. Allow the syringes to come to -40°C before thawing and using the material to avoid freeze-thaw voids. Avoid handling the individual syringes until they have reached -40°C. Handle the syringes with care. Plastic syringes are brittle at low temperatures and could easily crack or fracture if dropped onto a hard surface. Thawing from -80°C results in severe thermal shock that can aggravate a process called freeze-thaw voiding. A delay in transferring the material to a -40°C freezer can increase the chances of freeze-thaw void formation.
