What must be considered in terms of the index design?
Each additional index means additional input if changes are made to the table, and requires additional disk space. Therefore, take account of the following general rules: -> Create as few indexes as possible. -> Check whether an existing index can be put to good use by changing the application design. -> If possible, avoid creating any index that is very similar to an existing index. -> Only change standard indexes or existing indexes in consultation with SAP or at SAP’s request. To determine the optimal index for an actual statement, the actual values must be known in the WHERE condition and its selectivities.
