What must a nurse have to obtain lawful permanent residence (“Green Card”) in the United States?
The RN must be in possession of 1) A diploma from a nursing school in her country; 2) An RN license in her country; and 3) A Visa Screen Certificate from CGFNS (the only entity authorized by regulation to administer the certificate). If you want to work in one of the following states, you must pass the CGFNS examination before taking the state RN licensing (NCLEX) examination: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wyoming. In addition, unless you were educated in an English-speaking country (U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, United Kingdom or Canada (all provinces except Quebec), you must achiev
