What music or literary works are permitted?
• Performance selections may be chosen from works composed up through 1640 or theatrical works written up through 1600. Original or contemporary works may be used if they are written in the style of the Renaissance or based upon Renaissance themes. Sources of appropriate music include folk songs, secular and church music, recorder consorts or virginal music for vocalists, woodwinds or strings as well as Tower Music for brass ensembles. Does the music need to be memorized? • No. A limited number of suitable music stands will be available. However, this is an outside venue. You will need to provide a suitable clip to prevent your music from blowing. Do I have to perform every day during the entire run of the faire? • No. You will specify the dates that you will be able to perform. Depending upon the number of groups wishing to perform, you may be requested to perform some or all of the dates that you requested.
